Workshops’ descriptions

The focal point of many therapeutic processes is the moment when the patient takes responsibility for his life as it is today. It is imperative to extract and accept the truth about what shaped him in the history of his life. The patient also needs to notice specific mechanisms that have formed in him as a result of experiences and which he is guided by when making various decisions. We are talking here about the need to „unmask”, to get to know masks, their beneficial and harmful sides so that the patient himself can decide whether he is ready to take the risk of an increasingly „exposed” and authentic life. The fundamental change is to say: „I live” and „I have influence” instead of „you live” and „I can’t do anything.” Welcoming the Pilgrim is a time of discovering your identity in its various dimensions and, more importantly, of accepting your single Self to develop and create truer, more satisfying bonds. The pilgrim is a realist and knows that life in this world is neither paradise nor hell, so step by step he can plan and correct his decisions to feel more and more that he is building his life according to the values, goals and meanings he accepts. Still imperfect but sufficient man. Seeking fulfillment and drawing more and more inner joy from it.

Oncological diseases are one of the main causes of mortality in our society. Patients who experienced oncological diseases in their families also come to therapy offices. During the workshop, we will consider factors potentially traumatizing families of people suffering from/ dying from tumours. We will also look for factors that facilitate the care and being with our loved ones, as well as factors that facilitate understanding yourself and taking care of yourself as a caregiver.

certified psychotherapist licensed by the Association of Christian Psychologists, certified NEST therapist, certified logotorapist, graduate from a five-years’ psychotherapy course at the School od Systemic Family Therapy in Cracow led by prof. Bogdan de Barbaro , a graduate from the  School of Addiction Coulsellors in Cracow, certified Assistant of Psychodrama.

Psychodrama is a psycho-therapeutic method which engages the whole person -the body, the psyche and the spirit. Internal experiences are re-enacted  in action on stage, which we can observe from different cognitive perspectives. On the other hand, the ability to play different roles and not only  talking about them allows you to obtain a unique insight into internal processes. There is no better method  of understanding what psychodrama is than participating in a group workshop. At the workshop, we will be able to experience psychodramatic techniques which will allow us to get insight into the efficiency of body language, non-verbal expression, as well as the power of spoken words. One of the elements will be a proposal to work with a symptom that can be used in psychosomatic patients. Psychodrama workshops significantly contribute to raising the level of self-awareness   both in therapists actively involved in the process as well as in observers.

Genogram is an important element of the NEST therapy process, as well as one of the basic working methods in systemic therapy.

During this workshop we would like to propose deepened and enriched with additional techniques, possibilities of working with a genogram. Together we will analyze an example genogram in a way that will open new perspectives to making use of this method and enrich your set of therapeutic tools.

Our patients’ family tree and the fate of their family members hold many secrets which can help them better understand themselves and lead to discovering their potential and naming their flaws. Only on the basis of facts and knowledge of history, they can answer many questions about why their lives look like this and not different.

We would also want this workshop to be a space for its participants to exchange their experiences with using genograms in couples’, families’, individual patients’ and group therapy. When do we use this method? What limits and what opportunities do we find in it? What can we accomplish with it?

Aim: To show how wounded relationships in couples (conflicts, misunderstandings, betrayal, abuse) can be transformed towards safety, acceptance and trust using emotionally focused therapy techniques.

Programme:

  1. Theoretical description of the basic principles of EFT. (20 min)
  2. Practical part:

– Exercise (15 min).

– Demonstration of work (30 min)

– Analysis and feedback. (25 min)

This is a workshop where I invite you to consciously stop FOR A MOMENT to LISTEN TO YOUR BODY: TOUCH AND FEEL ITS PAIN, Wounds and Scars, stored in the NETWORKS OF MEMORY muscle, fascial, respiratory and mental tensions.

You will have the opportunity to feel what it means to have deep CONTACT with yourself. You will look at your BODY and symptoms from a different perspective. As a Therapist you know the importance of LISTENING TO YOUR BODY’S LANGUAGE, because TRAUMA IS WRITTEN IN YOUR BODY’S MEMORY NETWORKS. Knowledge and experience of working with the body according to the bioenergetic analysis

The knowledge and experience of body work according to bioenergetic analysis by Alexander Lowen will probably enrich you personally and professionally.

You will learn to talk with your body, and its symptoms, to listen to it, what it has to tell you about yourself, and your history, and you will start to get in touch with your INTERNAL IMAGES, which have been with you since the beginning of your life.

With this foundation in awareness of your body, its posture, breathing, eye contact, facial expressions, gestures, involuntary movements, you will become more attentive to what is happening in your Client’s/Patient’s body. From there, you will gain information about what is happening, may be happening in his/her physical, mental and emotional INTERNAL DYNAMICS.

Workshop „Working with the inner child. The technique of getting to know yourself” will allow each person to try to see their inner child, who often wants to tell us something important in various ways. We will look at important theoretical and practical points of view such as:

  1. Who is the inner child?
  2. Why is it important to heal the inner child?
  3. How can you work with your inner child?
  4. Technique-visualization during which you will meet and get to know your inner child.

During the workshop we will see the figure of the „inner child”, who will allow us to understand ourselves more deeply and take care of ourselves, to see how it influences our attitude towards ourselves and our relations with others.

During the workshop, we will have the opportunity to get to know our inner child, his world of feelings and experiences, consciously touch our deeper childhood emotions and give ourselves space to see and experience them.

We will try to get to know our deep unmet needs of childhood, which we may experience through the unconscious process in adulthood.

Awareness and contact with our sensitive, emotional, childish part can help us solve various current difficulties. Deficiencies and injuries that a child experiences affect our emotions and behavior, aggressive and demanding treatment of ourselves or the constant search for filling an undefined void. Working in this direction can give you more understanding of your reactions and defense mechanisms.

The workshop can be especially helpful for people who have experienced some type of abuse or neglect. Adopting your sensitive, childlike part allows you to find and integrate your strength, flowing not through violence, but through inner wholeness.

Dependency can be experienced differently by each of us. Our approach to dependency is closely related to our early childhood experiences in this area. It is those experiences that

affect how we experience ourselves, the other person and the relationship, i.e., what kind of relationships we form, what we experience in them, and what we pass on to future generations.

The workshop aims to show the process of intergenerational trauma transmission, with a particular emphasis on the period in which this process can still be successfully stopped. The early postnatal period is the only time in a person’s life when, in response to the infant’s primary feelings, the feelings related to their own experiences of being dependent as an infant on their caregivers are so intensely revealed in the parents. This is the great opportunity for both the patents and the child. The parents have a possibility to work through their hidden traumas thanks to the revealing of the past in the present, and the child has a chance to stop the process of being a trauma participant and gain more potential to build satisfying relationships.

The aim of the workshop is to enter into the roles of people in a drama, to read and empathize with the characters.

Most of us therapists usually listen to our patients (clients).

Therefore, it can become a valuable experience to be able to role-play traumatized characters and those who inflicted these traumas on them.

The workshop will consist of 4 parts:

  1. getting to know the workshop participants, distribution of roles
  2. reading rehearsal

5-10 minute break

  1. reading the drama
  2. role play reports and discussion

Affect regulation is the attempt to control one’s mood or emotional state so as to maximize pleasant experiences and minimize unpleasant ones. Affect dysregulation, in contrast, is a transdiagnostic phenomenon not just detectable in different psychiatric conditions, but also temporarily affecting all of us in times of distress, e.g. a pending war. It is impossible to change emotions simply by deciding to feel differently, but several indirect strategies exist for affect regulation. These include unconscious processes such as denial and dissociation, but also conscious attemps, e.g. cognitive techniques such as reframing and distraction, and behavioral methods such as relaxation and meditation. In this workshop, participants will receive a short theoretical overview of affect regulation, and get the opportunity to experientially learn stabilization techniques which can be used both with clients and as self-soothing methods. Anyone out there who could not do with a little self-care?

We know many methods to recognise our places where we feel vulnerable, we know how to regulate our own feelings, and finally how to recover. Trauma makes us feel threatened and disconnected from others.

According to the Stephen Porges’s polyvagal theory, the vagus nerve is a key to manage our sense of safety and sense of belonging. We can stimulate it in many ways and as a result finally experience co-regulation.

This workshop gives the opportunity to use this knowledge: breathing, sighing, humming and singing in a group stimulate the vagus nerve, help us to experience a greater sense of safety within ourselves and reconnect us with others.

This workshop is also an opportunity to meet our inner child. Using our own voice, we can surround them with care and attention.

The workshop does not require exceptional musical skills, but only using your own voice.

Death is a phenomenon described in almost every field of humanistic knowledge. Philosophy, psychology, medicine, theology, art … are areas in which reflection is conducted almost from the beginning, each of them proposes its reference to death. From serious reflection to sometimes desperate attempts to prevent death. The issue of death is a source of fascination, which shows the demand for the content related to its portrayal. The trap may be that the above-mentioned reflections, images, films, however, concern the death of ANOTHER. It may seem that such a common topic, as it is, the Covid pandemic, the war in Ukraine, brought the reality of death closer. However, it still remains an experience, the experience of only those who have faced their own death, will not tell about it …

The workshop meeting will allow you to pose questions and try to answer how we meet our own death, how the awareness of our own death affects how we live, what we enter and what we run away from. Reflection on your own death, perhaps an encounter with the most hidden and subtle fear.

Death is one of the most fundamental, while at the same time, least discussed facts of human life. The reluctance to accept death is one of the characteristic features of the contemporary attitude towards death and dying in general. Many people fear death. Fear of it is the fear of a special kind—it is the fear of suffering, loss of social identity, being forgotten… However, by including the subject of death into our everyday lives, we learn how to make the most of life and enjoy what is given to us. The proposed workshop invites you to talk about death, to enter into the perspective of a human being nearing the end of their life. It encourages an open dialogue about death as a natural and inevitable part of everyone’s life. The workshop also argues that talking about death helps one to rediscover the joy of life. The workshop is addressed to people who are interested in the issue of dying and death, and not to those who are in mourning or in the process of accompanying a loved one’s dying.

During the workshop, we will have the opportunity to go on an existential journey into ourselves.

In our journey through life, we will try to distinguish important moments, turning points, stations that we miss a lot and those that we would rather not return to, moments of derailment and new tracks/ paths of life.

Recalling the different stages of our own life we will try to look at the people who accompanied us and our relationship with them.We will also try to find ourselves on this journey.

It will be an opportunity to look at those who accompanied us, supported the journey and those who were stowaways, disruptive passengers, hindering our travel.

Finally, we will try to plan the further journey realistically. Leaving those we do not want to sit next to and inviting or changing to those with whom we would like to continue traveling, if possible.

As usual in an existential workshop, it will be more about experiencing a few important questions together than finding unambiguous answers. What does a half-life crisis mean to me? Do I feel or imagine it as an empty house (nest) or an empty heart? If this conventional border, called the half of life, symbolizes the end, closing of some tasks, stages or fragments of a biography – what does it mean in the case of my fate? And what prospects – hopes and tasks – are opening up before me, on the horizon of the second half of my life? And so on. I imagine it will be a kind of common contemplation on issues such as youth and old age, time, passing. And over the wisdom of nature, for which there is no doubt that autumn and winter are as important as spring and summer for the eternal rhythm.

Contextual therapy, developed by Ivan Boszormenyi-Nagy during the 1960’s and 1970’s, proposes an understanding of human problems from an ethical perspective, exploring fairness, truthfulness and trustworthiness in relationships. The main theoretical concepts employed by this approach – including loyalty, legacy, entitlement and exploitation – offer novel ways for exploring the family tree, a therapeutic instrument used early in the NEST process. This workshop will offer participants the possibility to experience a step-by-step analysis of a genogram (their own or that of a client) from a contextual perspective.
